[Personality]
Peeta Mellark is one of those complex characters, his personality can shift in so many different directions at any given time. He's the kind of guy that would do anything he can to protect the people he cares about without a worry for his own safety. The first time we get a glimpse of this is when he sees Katniss when they were just around eleven, she was hungry and was caught by his mother digging for food. He risked a beating by burning two loaves of bread. These loaves of bread he gives to Katniss for her and her sister Prim, keeping them alive. Such as in his willingness to die to keep Katniss alive during the Hunger games by teaming up with the careers to help wittle down the tributes in hopes of Katniss coming out the victor. He's a sweet, gentle, and strong man as Katniss would say. He makes jokes and has sweet comments on the tip of his tongue. He has a very likable personality and becomes well loved by the people of the districts of Panem as he is good with public speaking. He didn't expect to win the Hunger Games and was willing to go to any extreme to keep Katniss alive. He's smart and was able to figure out patterns of strategies to use in the games. He hates killing unless they are a threat to himself or to Katniss and cares for those around him to varying degrees. He's selfless willing to sacrifice his own life for Katniss. He's known for making those around him laugh even when times were tough; and he always seems to know exactly what to say to make people feel better or with cheering up. He's trustworthy and can keep secrets hidden well and worked with Haymitch Abernathy, his and Katniss' mentor, on strategies for the game. His skills as a baker come in handy more than most would think, his frosting abilities help him easily learn camoflage in hiding.

While he is generally sweet in nature Peeta does have a temper that explodes, especially when he comes to discover he is being used. One such outburst is when he discovers Katniss was only lying and pretending to be in love with him for the cameras, while he was really in love with her. Peeta hates the games, hates the fact he's a pawn and wants to show them that he is his own person or as he says; "Only I keep wishing I could think of a way to... to show the Capitol they don't own me. That I'm more than just a piece in their games". He doesn't expect to live but he wants to die as his own person and not what they make him up to be. He also fears losing his freedom and unfortunately for Peeta both of his fears become a reality for him. During the Third Quarter Quell when the tributes rebel while Katniss, Beetee, Finnick, Johanna, Plutarch (Head Gamemaker), and even Haymitch had a plan and they were rescued, Peeta is captured by The Capitol. During his captivity he is beaten and tortured for information he did not have. Instead of killing Peeta President Snow kept him alive to use against Katniss. Because of his time in Captivity Peeta is like a completely different person. He's out of control and violent, unable to clear his own thoughts. He eventually recovers but does have periods where the hijacking tries to take back over but he fights it. He relies on a game called 'Real or Not Real' to try and keep his mind settled, by the end of the series he's much better but still struggles with what they did to him.

[Other important stuff]
Peeta Mellark has bright blue eyes and blonde hair. He is of a stocky build, medium height. He has an artificial leg received after injuring his leg during the 74th Hunger Games. Katniss tied a tourniquet after he was bitten by a muttation, which are are animals that have been genetically altered by The Capitol for use as weapons, intelligence, and other activities. . Being a victor the Capitol tried to fix him up but he'd lost too much blood and they had to amputate but gave him the artificial leg.

[First Person]
I'm not sure how this all works but uh can anyone hear me out there? This is definitely not District 12 or anywhere in Panem.

Katniss? Haymitch? Anyone?

Please tell me this isn't some new capitol trick. I escaped...or...did I? I'm losing it again.

Real or not real?

I'm not playing your games anymore.

[Third Person]
Peeta had arrived in Somni and still felt like he was losing his mind. None of this could be real. He just couldn't shake the fact he had just been laying with Katniss asking her if she loved him and then he was here. He never even got to hear her answer. To hime that just wasn't right. Still he was doing his best here even stopping for a bit. That's when it happened.

A low frustrated groan as he felt it trying to creep back up slowly into his mind, something he's felt so often now it doesn't bother him as much as it used to. The hijacking the Capitol did to his mind, the twisting and perversion they did to him always with him, the damage done to his mind by President Snow and The Capitol has never fully repaired his constant reminder of that time. He tried burying the memories of the beating, the torture, being turned against Katniss. He can't break now, not after how long it took him to fix himself to almost normalcy. He looks down to his knuckles which have turned bright white from gripping his chair. .

Shaking his head he finally released his grip from the chair and needing something to distract his mind he decided to paint. He hadn't thought about what to paint but as he watched the face was clear. Katniss. He painted her surrounded by primrose flowers. Once he was finished he stepped back to study what he had done. A bit of beauty in this new place, this new arena. He felt like he was in a bigger game, bigger than the Hunger Games. Ones that let you move around freely never knowing what might sneak up on you. The wings had just been the beginning and he knows he has to survive. Too many people lost something to keep him alive and he owed it to them. He needs to survive, has to stay alive.

He had been here for a few days now but nothing seemed to settle him yet. He felt like he was trapped once more in a new arena. New game, new Gamemakers, new rules and a desire to survive to keep him going. It was just hard without anyone to keep him grounded. He muttered to himself unknown to him it was outloud instead of in his head.

"You can get through this Peeta. You have to to get back to her."

[Why do you want to play this character in Somarium?] Peeta has to be one of my favorite book characters of all time. I'm drawn to him and how he developed after everything he had to face. He became stronger even when he thought he was weak. He has a good heart but he struggles because of things the Capitol did to him.

I really just want to see how he reacts to being in Som and how he adapts to a new place. See if he breaks or takes it in stride. I think it will be a fun little experiment.

[Which rule was your favorite and why?] It's a tie between be nice to other players and no god-modding. Both are common sense oriented as well as courteous, yet there are so many that seem to forget or just ignore them.
[Where did you hear about Somarium?]

Peeta had awoken early, unable to sleep. He glanced to the body beside him and smiled seeing Katniss actually resting peacefully. Not having the heart to wake her he slipped out of bed and went into the kitchen, gathering the ingredients he needed he began to mix together a batch of his cheese bread.

He figured that she'd enjoy it when she woke up later, hopefully it was later. He had flour dusted all over him. There was a moment when he noticed his hands began to shake and he gripped the kitchen counter hard enough his knuckles began to turn white. He closed his eyes waiting for it to pass.

History: Peeta Mellark was the baker's son, which makes him one of the wealthier people in District 12, which is the coal mining district, being of the merchant class. He does not live in "The Seam" like fellow District 12 tribute Katniss Everdeen, but in the center of town above the family bakery Peeta's childhood wasn't the best such as even though he grew up in the merchant area the only food his family could afford was only the stale items that no one bought. His father was kind but his mother however would beat Peeta and his two brothers if they messed up or just did something she disliked. When he was chosen as the male tribute of the 74th Hunger Games his mother didn't place any faith in him. Since the age of five Peeta has been crushing on Katniss Everdeen after she was pointed out by his father and told the story how he had wanted to marry Katniss' mother but she chose a coal miner. Peeta had then replied, "A coal miner? Why did she want a coal miner when she could have had you?" His father answered, "Because when he sings... even the birds stop to listen." Later when she was asked to sing the birds stopped and listened for her as well and Peeta feel for her then. Peeta and Katniss run into each other one day when she was trying to feed her sister and was caught by Peeta's mother scrounging. Peeta then burnt two loaves of bread on purpose and gave them to her. He was beaten by his mother for burning the bread. This act of kindness gives Katniss the will to survive. Peeta and Katniss don't actually talk until the 74th Hunger Games.

- Peeta reveals in his interview he wa sin love with a girl, and tells everyone him winning won't win her over. The reason given was that she came with him.

- He pretends to work with the Careers at the start of the games.

- The night before the Games, Peeta and Katniss talk on the rooftop and Peeta explains that he wants to die as himself and wants to show the Capitol that he is more than just a piece in their games.

- Peeta after a new rule of that if both tributes from a district are alive at the end, then both can be crowned victors, he and Katniss hook back up.

- Peeta makes a lot of noise when walking which makes sneaking around hard.

- Peeta is bitten by the muttations and loses his leg, which is replaced by a artificial leg.

- Peeta along with Katniss are crowned victors after threatening to eat poisoned Nightlock berries when they are told the previously announced rule was reracted. Their show of love ends up with them crowning both because there must be a winner.

- Peeta finds out that Katniss was partially pretending to be in love with him, and he becomes heartbroken.

- Peeta thinking he would become a mentor for the Quarter Quell is surprised when it's said the tributes will be chosen amongst the district victors. When Haymitch is picked as the male tribute he volunteers to keep Katniss safe.

- Peeta lies to the people of Panem and tells them that he is married to Katniss and that she is pregnant. This is to play up on the fanbase.

- Peeta runs into a force field and his heart stops, but their ally Finnick Odair, from District 4, restarts it by using CPR.

- Peeta is captured by the capitol while Katniss is resucued by the resistance against the Capitol. He is tortured and beaten. This eventually turns him against Katniss. He is "hijacked" and his memories distorted. He is unable to discover what is real or fake.

- He soon recovers slowly with a bit of a game of "Real, or not Real" where he asks Katniss questions and she tells him if it was real or not.

- Peeta and Katniss marry and have two children, a boy and a girl. They have a girl with her mother's dark hair and her father's blue eyes and a boy with his father's blond hair and his mother's gray eyes.

- Peeta's favorite color is oronge but not a bright orange but like that of a sunset.

- Peeta is of medium height with a stocky build. His hair is ash blond and he has blue eyes. He had his left leg amputated at the thigh and uses an artificial one, the result of an injury sustained at the end of the 74th Hunger Games.

- Peeta plants primroses around Katniss' house in memory of her sister Prim who is killed during the rebellion.

First Person (entry type): The weather is unrelentingly bad tonight. It's like buckets of water being dumped down over us. I can already hear Katniss pacing and muttering under her breath. She wants to go out into the woods but the rain won't let up. Outside I couldn't even see anything so we both know it'd be too dangerous for her to go out there. We are both feeling trapped and almost climbing the walls. I'm trying to make it easier for her but she isn't an indoor type. Maybe if I bake her some bread she'll relax with the fresh baked smell. I think I'll go curl up with her while the bread bakes, she always likes that.

Third Person: Peeta moved through the woods in the arena. He knew Katniss was nearby and his mind was formulating on how to lead the careers off her trail. Much more misdirection and they'd be on to him so he had to throw them a bone as it were. Had to let them think he was still on their side and had been all along.

He had spotted her the night before but said nothing and saw her routine. So he knew once she was up in the tree she'd be safe from them. So as she climbed he lead the careers to right under her. Of course in doing so he didn't expect her to think of sending the tracker jacker hive down onto them. Maybe he was rubbing off on her. He just couldn't let her get hurt because if anyone was getting out of here? Peeta was going to make sure it was her. If he died in the process at least the girl he loved would be safe. Besides not even his own mother expected him to come out alive.
